Game Concept
I pitched this game project to the Video Game Development Club (VGDC) at UCI in an effort to gain a bit more practice with creating 3D assets and environments. Nearly all of the projects created by VGDC are 2D games, so it’s not often that the artists in the club get experience with working in 3D. The models that I made for this project are low-poly and the animations are fairly basic, which is why I tried using particle systems to add some flare, but to be fair, the majority of the project was made during the last couple weeks of the school quarter that this project spanned. The game itself is a simple platformer with minimal story behind it. The player character is an anthropomorphic flower bud named Pollyn who acts as a sort of helpful fairy who appeared to secretly assist a florist named Sunny, whose flowers are having trouble blooming. The controls are explained in-game as you move along, but you use the WASD or Arrow Keys to move and use your mouse to control the camera direction. You can jump/double-jump by pressing the spacebar, hold down space to glide (slow your fall speed), press the left shift key to dash, and the Esc key to pause the game.
